SCIENCE EXPLORATION OF EROSION

Think about the two different demonstrations that took place outside this week.

First, explain what we did in the first ditch. Tell about the landforms you saw being formed. Explain how you knew what you were seeing. (example: A valley was formed because a low place between the two mountains was formed.)

Next, the second paragraph will tell about what we did in the ditch at the top of the hill and what you learned.

You will be graded on whether you used all of the vocabulary words correctly and if you followed the directions to form two paragraphs with topic sentences and concluding sentences and had all required information.

Use the following vocabulary in 2 well written paragraphs. Be sure to include an explanation of how you know each of the things you learned. You may type it here or write on a separate sheet of notebook paper. You will have 2 days to work on it before turning it in.
erosion sediment meander canyon delta
river basin deposition slope dam lake

On dirt day, we had two mountains already made by the teachers, here is somethings about the first one. At the ditch, we watched erosion, erosion meaning the wearing away of Earth's surface,we saw a lot of meander, slow turns in a river, we saw it create a natural dam, or a natural or unnatural stop in a river. Sediment and deposition was what the dam was created by, sediment is soil that gets carried by the river and deposition is the deposit of the sediment. The water made a basin, a large bowl-shaped landform, which turned into a canyon, a channel with steep walls created by a river. We saw many lakes forming, a lake is a gathering of water. At the start of the river was a delta, I knew it was a delta, because, it was fan-shaped.
When we were at the second ditch, we realized it was a lot steeper than the other ditch. At this ditch we tried to make dams using any materials we could find. None of the dams succeeded, but it was a good start. There wasn't much meander(slow turns in a river), but maybe
